Because of their large and delicate fins, they are best housed with peaceful tank mates that will not nip, chase or harass them.

Feeding

Bettas are carnivorous and require a protein-rich diet.

A high-quality Betta pellet should form the foundation of the diet, supplemented with frozen or appropriately sized live foods such as:

• Bloodworms
• Brine shrimp
• Daphnia
• Mosquito larvae

Feed small portions once or twice daily, providing only what the fish can comfortably consume.

Avoid overfeeding, as Bettas have small stomachs and are prone to digestive issues and obesity when fed excessively.

 

Tank Mates

A male Betta can be kept successfully as a solitary feature fish, which is often the safest and simplest arrangement.

In a mature, appropriately sized and well-planted aquarium, peaceful tank mates may sometimes be introduced. Peaceful snails are generally good companions, while shrimp may be possible depending on the individual Betta's temperament.

Every Betta has its own personality, and some may view smaller tank mates as prey.

Avoid fin-nipping species, aggressive fish, highly active tank mates and other male Bettas.

 

Tank Environment

Dumbo White Bettas thrive in calm, planted aquariums with plenty of cover.

Floating plants can provide shade and security near the surface, while broad-leaved plants offer excellent resting areas for the fish's flowing fins.

As a labyrinth fish, Betta splendens regularly comes to the surface to breathe atmospheric air. Keep the surface accessible and avoid excessive surface agitation.

A secure lid is recommended to prevent jumping.
