 Identification

Pearl Jam Zoanthids, often called Pearl Jam Zoas, are a colorful and vibrant morph of the Zoanthus coral family — prized for their bold coloration, relatively easy care, and stunning growth pattern.

• Appearance: Typically, Pearl Jam Zoas have a dramatic color contrast:

  • Bright neon green or teal skirts

  • A deep purplish or dark center

  • Radiant, metallic or pearlescent highlights that shimmer under actinic or blue LED lighting

• This eye-catching combo makes them a favorite for adding a splash of vivid color to Zoa gardens or mixed coral colonies.

 Behavior & Placement

✅ Growth: Zoanthids grow in tight colonies or mats, encrusting over live rock and frag plugs. Pearl Jams can multiply relatively quickly under good conditions.
✅ Placement: Place them in low to moderate flow areas. This keeps detritus off the polyps but doesn’t blast them with too much current.
✅ Lighting: Moderate to high reef lighting. They really pop under blue-heavy LED spectrums — perfect for that “glow” look.
