The Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse is one of the most colorful and active reef fish available to marine hobbyists. During these displays, the fish rapidly intensifies its colors while extending its dorsal and anal fins, creating an incredible visual spectacle. Hardy, reef safe, and constantly swimming in the open water, the Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse makes an outstanding addition to peaceful reef aquariums.

Behavior & Role in a Reef Tank
Carpenter's Flasher Wrasses are extremely active mid-water swimmers that spend the day exploring every corner of the aquarium. They are peaceful and social fish that thrive in reef environments with plenty of open swimming space and rockwork for shelter.
Male Carpenter's Flasher Wrasses are especially admired for their dramatic flashing behavior. During these displays, they rapidly swim while extending their fins and intensifying their brilliant colors to impress females or establish territory. This natural behavior is one of the highlights of keeping this species.
Like many wrasses, they sleep within a mucus cocoon among the rockwork at night rather than burying themselves in the sand.
Compatibility & Caution
Carpenter's Flasher Wrasses are completely reef safe and do not bother corals, shrimp, snails, or other reef invertebrates.
They do best with other peaceful community fish and can often be kept alongside other Fairy or Flasher Wrasses in larger aquariums. Avoid housing them with large aggressive wrasses, dottybacks, triggers, or other territorial species that may intimidate them.
These wrasses are excellent jumpers, making a tightly fitting aquarium lid or mesh screen absolutely essential.
